Nomium at BTC Prague 2026: Mining Has Grown Up, and All Discussions Go On in Hallways

In early June, the Nomium team took part in BTC Prague 2026 – the biggest Bitcoin conference in Europe. Three days, 3,000+ participants from multiple countries, 200+ speakers on four stages. Here is what caught our attention and what we are taking away.

The Atmosphere: Scaling Up, but No Change of Essence

BTC Prague has already gone way past the boundaries of a regular Bitcoin conference. This is the place where half of the Bitcoin community in Europe meets in person every year. BTC Prague holds on to its Bitcoin-only concept – no altcoins, no other distractions.

The most valuable insights happen in hallways. Fifteen minutes at someone else’s booth is worth more than a month of scrolling crypto Twitter. This is exactly why people make the trip.

The Shifts in the Industry

The mining track has matured noticeably. People spoke way less about “returns x times” and promising something and much more about business: multi-year contracts, actual locations, infrastructure in operation. Vaporware became much less popular – the industry matures.

Mining was mostly spoken about on stage in terms of energy resources: grid power, electricity surplus, nuclear power generation. However, how mining actually works on the inside – pools, software, load management – was left off screen. In our opinion, this is where the most interesting engineering lies.

Popular topics included: Bitcoin’s quantum resistance (a few technically substantiated presentations) and regulation – European MiCA and possibilities for Prague to become a Bitcoin hub for Europe. The open source track has been gaining popularity as well: active discussion around Bitaxe attracted many visitors.

What the Nomium Team Was Offering

We did not attend this conference only to listen. We offered two different tracks.

The first one – quick launching of a Web3 product: from an idea to a running solution. Ideal for the teams who care about quick time-to-market.

The second one – gamification of Web3 projects: user engagement mechanics based on the blockchain logic, quests, reward system, interactive scenarios. Guests could see the implementation of gamification on the spot.

The reaction was sincere. Interest in the quick launch was shown by early-stage startups concerned with speed. Gamification was of interest for projects already dealing with user retention challenges.
